Use of virtualised infrastructures in NetApp storage environments

New training course from Fast Lane: VMware vSphere on NetApp

Hamburg/Berlin, 13. September 2013 – Reliability is key for virtualised infrastructures. Administrators who want to prepare for configuring host, network and storage services using NetApp solutions have come to the right place with IT training provider Fast Lane. The NetApp Authorised Learning Partner is now offering the updated training course VMware vSphere on NetApp (VVNA). Here, participants find out more about the technology of NetApp storage systems with Data ONTAP both in 7-mode and in cluster mode, and its integration into environments with VMware ESXi 5.1 vCenter Server.

In this training course, the participants learn how to configure and administer VMware ESXi 5.1 using vCenter Server 5 in a NetApp storage environment. Among other things, the advantages and disadvantages of the NFS (Network File System) and VMFS (Virtual Machine File System) data stores are compared and analysed. The Fast Lane instructors also look at the FCP, FCoE, iSCSI and/or NFS protocols for connecting to the NFS and VMFS data stores. The new version of the course takes a detailed look at the NetApp Virtual Storage Console (VSC) for VMware vSphere. To do this, comprehensive practical exercises are carried out with a focus on monitoring and host configuration, backup and restore, and provisioning and cloning. In addition, the participants acquire knowledge about the monitoring of ESXi hosts as well as NetApp storage environments. Last but not least, the course covers the implementation of secure multitenancy.
